Wheel-thrown low rise porcelain bowl with a slightly undulating rim. The outside of the bowl is textured with a white crackle glaze that frames the content of the bowl. The inside of the bowl features a yellow glaze that is food safe. The bottom of the bowl has a thin black coat.
The White Crackle design is represented by a highly textured opaque white glaze in the shape of small islands floating on a black glossy surface. The white glaze is specially formulated to shrink a lot more than the clay body during glaze firing, thus prompting the formation of a pattern that is unique to each piece. The result is a high contrast textural surface with a modern flair. For some it reminds them of tree bark or a parched ground, and others a snake skin or falling snow. Whatever form it takes, the White Crackle design is sure to bring attention to where it is located.
